The goalkeeper learns to switch from offensive to defensive, specifically to space and goal defense.
Pro-Tip by Peter Rasch
The courageous positioning depends on the reaction time and the confidence of the individual goalkeeper. To put it simply: the further the ball is from the goal, the braver the goalkeeper can stand.

Another principle that I give to my goalkeepers in space defense is "act instead of refrain". Ask your goalies if they find it easier to catch crosses or defend the follow-up action (header, shot on goal, etc.) from close range. If the answer is "Catch crosses", the principle also applies to your goalkeepers!
With passion and attention to detail, we've transfered our best drills into a unique and world-class set of training programmes designed to help experienced goalkeeper coaches and ambitious club coaches.
In 2014, I first asked Peter what it would take to have all his goalkeeping experience in a unified drill and video database. Now we're finally here and fortunately, I have no idea how many thousand working hours exactly went into this project.
