The goalkeeper learns to adjust his position quickly before the goal is scored from a close range. In this exercise, the goalkeeper also improves his perception.
Pro-Tip by Peter Rasch
After I have bounced the ball, now and then I put the ball in front of me and give my goalkeepers the opportunity to reduce the distance to the shooter again. If the "who is closer to the ball?" ratio changes in favour of the goalkeeper, this is the moment when the ball is to be attacked.
With passion and attention to detail, we've transfered our best drills into a unique and world-class set of training programmes designed to help experienced goalkeeper coaches and ambitious club coaches.
In 2014, I first asked Peter what it would take to have all his goalkeeping experience in a unified drill and video database. Now we're finally here and fortunately, I have no idea how many thousand working hours exactly went into this project.
